पंजाब में सड़कों की तस्वीर बदलने के लिए सरकार ने बड़ी घोषणा की है। पहले चरण में घोषित 19,373 किलोमीटर सड़कों का निर्माण कार्य शुरू हो चुका है। सीएम ने शनिवार को दूसरे चरण के तहत बनाई जाने वाली 25,547 किलोमीटर नई सड़कों की घोषणा की। अब कुल मिलाकर राज्य में 44,920 किलोमीटर सड़कों का निर्माण एक साल के भीतर करवाया जाएगा, जिस पर 16209 करोड़ रुपये खर्च किए जाएंगे।
शनिवार को एक पत्रकारवार्ता में मुख्यमंत्री भगवंत मान ने कहा कि अगले वर्ष के अंत तक पंजाब के सभी गांवों, कस्बों और शहरों में कुल 16,209 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से 44,920 किलोमीटर सड़कों का निर्माण कार्य पूरा करने का निर्णय लिया है। इन सड़कों के निर्माण में विश्वस्तरीय मानकों और सुरक्षा नियमों का पालन हो और इसके लिए निर्माण के साथ पांच वर्षों की रखरखाव की अनिवार्य शर्त भी जोड़ी जाएगी। मान ने बताया कि राज्य में 4,092 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से 19,373 किलोमीटर ग्रामीण लिंक सड़कों का निर्माण चल रहा है। इस वर्ष बाढ़ के कारण कई क्षेत्रों में सड़कों को भारी नुकसान हुआ था।
ठेकेदारों से कमीशन मांगी तो खैर नहीं
मुख्यमंत्री मान ने बताया कि पिछले दिनों उन्होंने टैगोर थिएटर में पंजाब के ठेकेदारों से बैठक कर स्पष्ट कर दिया था कि सूबे में निर्माण कार्य के दौरान कोई गड़बड़ी बर्दाश्त नहीं होगी। उन्हें बता दिया गया है कोई उनसे कमीशन नहीं मांगेगा। सरकार नहीं चाहती किसी मुलाजिम की नौकरी खराब हो और ठेकेदार को ब्लैक लिस्ट कर दिया जाए मगर हम जनता का पैसा भ्रष्टाचार में बर्बाद नहीं होने देंगे। पहली सरकार बहुत कमीशनखोरी कर ली मगर आप सरकार में ऐसा नहीं चलेगा। निर्माण कार्य पूरी ईमानदारी और तय मानक के अनुसार ही करने होंगे।

2829 किमी की प्लान रोड पीडब्ल्यूडी 2501 करोड़ से तैयार करवाएगा।
18545 किमी ग्रामीण लिंक सड़कों का निर्माण 5226 करोड़ से पीडब्यूडी करेगा।
22291 किमी सड़कें मंडी बोर्ड बनवाएगा, बजट रहेगा 7697 करेाड़।
1255 किमी सड़कों का निर्माण 785 करोड़ से स्थानीय निकाय विभाग करवाएगा।
