यमुना को स्वच्छ और प्रदूषण मुक्त बनाने के उद्देश्य से रविवार को चलाए गए ‘मां यमुना तट स्वच्छता अभियान’ में 15 हजार से अधिक नागरिकों, स्वयंसेवकों और सामाजिक संगठनों ने भाग लिया। राजधानी के विभिन्न हिस्सों में यमुना तटों और घाटों पर हुए इस व्यापक अभियान के दौरान 116.6 मीट्रिक टन कचरा हटाया गया। इसके साथ ही लोगों ने यमुना को स्वच्छ बनाए रखने का संकल्प भी लिया।
अभियान के तहत यमुना घाटों, नदी के किनारों, संपर्क मार्गों और आसपास के सार्वजनिक स्थलों पर बड़े स्तर पर सफाई की गई। आवासीय कल्याण संघों (आरडब्ल्यूए), सामाजिक संगठनों, छात्र समूहों और स्थानीय नागरिकों ने श्रमदान कर न केवल सफाई अभियान में हिस्सा लिया, बल्कि लोगों को स्वच्छता और नदी संरक्षण के प्रति जागरूक भी किया।
