पूरा यूपी भीषण सर्दी की चपेट में है। शनिवार को दिन की शुरूआत कोहरे और गलन के साथ हुई। विक्षोभ के कमजोर पड़ते ही सर्द पछुआ ने सर उठाया और शुक्रवार को दिन में प्रदेश के कई जिलों में कड़ाके की ठंड पड़ी। कोहरे के प्रकोप और दिन में 10 से 15 किमी प्रति घंटे की रफ्तार से गलन भरी पछुआ ने लोगों की परेशानी बढ़ाई। जिन इलाकों में धूप हुई, वहां भी गलन हावी रही।माैसम विभाग का कहना है कि पहाड़ों से आ रही पछुआ के असर से प्रदेश भर में अगले तीन दिनों में दिन व रात के तापमान में 3 से 4 डिग्री सेल्सियस की गिरावट आएगी।
शुक्रवार को 6 न्यूनतम तापमान के साथ बाराबंकी और हरदोई प्रदेश में सबसे ठंडे रहे। वहीं 13.3 डिग्री के साथ बरेली में सबसे ठंडा दिन रहा। घने कोहरे की वजह से कानपुर, आगरा, गोरखपुर, अमेठी आदि में सुबह दृश्यता शून्य हो गई।
शनिवार के लिए तराई और पूर्वी -दक्षिणी यूपी के 34 जिलों में घने कोहरे का ऑरेंज अलर्ट जारी किया गया है। वहीं राजधानी लखनऊ समेत प्रदेश के आठ जिलों में शीत दिवस होने की आशंका जताई गई है। वरिष्ठ मौसम विज्ञानी डा. अतुल कुमार सिंह ने बताया कि यूपी में शुक्रवार को विक्षोभ के कमजोर पड़ने और सर्द पछुआ के असर से अब रातों में पारा गिरना शुरू होगा। अगले तीन दिनों में दिन व रात के तापमान में 3 से 4 डिग्री सेल्सियस की गिरावट आएगी।

बांदा, चित्रकूट, कौशांबी, प्रयागराज, फतेहपुर, सोनभद्र, मिर्जापुर, चंदौली, वाराणसी, भदोही, गाजीपुर, मऊ, बलिया, देवरिया, गोरखपुर, संत कबीर नगर, बस्ती, कुशीनगर, महाराजगंज, सिद्धार्थ नगर, गोंडा, बलरामपुर, श्रावस्ती, बहराइच, लखीमपुर खीरी, मुरादाबाद, रामपुर, बरेली, पीलीभीत, जालौन, हमीरपुर, महोबा, झांसी, ललितपुर व आसपास के इलाकों में।

मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ ने आईसीएसई, सीबीएसई और यूपी बोर्ड के 12वीं तक के सभी स्कूलों को पांच जनवरी तक बंद करने का आदेश दिया है। प्रदेश में इस समय अधिकतर जिले शीतलहर की चपेट में हैं।
