बापू नाडकर्णी ने मुकाबले में ऐसा स्पेल डाला, जिसे क्रिकेट इतिहास का सबसे कंजूस स्पेल कहा जाता है। नाडकर्णी ने इंग्‍लैंड की पहली पारी में लगातार 21 मेडन ओवर किए थे। इस मुकाबले में अगर बापू के प्रदर्शन की बात करें तो उन्‍होंने 32 ओवर गेंदबाजी की और 27 ओवर में कोई रन नहीं दिया था।

अपने स्‍पेल में बापू ने सिर्फ 0.15 की इकोनॉमी से 5 रन ही दिए थे। हालांकि , उनके खाते में कोई विकेट नहीं आया था। इंग्‍लैंड की दूसरी पारी में बापू ने 6 ओवर गेंदबाजी की थी और 6 रन दिए थे। इस दौरान उन्‍होंने 4 मेडन ओवर फेंके थे और 2 सफलताएं भी प्राप्‍त की थीं।

टीम इंडिया ने दूसरी पारी 152/9 पर घोषित की।
