नयी दिल्ली । भारत ने अगस्त महीने के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद (यूएनएससी) की अध्यक्षता की बागडोर रविवार को संभाल ली और कहा है कि वह वैश्विक मंच पर ‘संयम के स्वर’ के रूप में अन्य सदस्य देशों के साथ मिलकर काम करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है।
विदेश मंत्री एस जयशंकर ने अपने ट्वीट में कहा, “भारत अन्य सदस्यों के साथ मिलकर काम करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है तथा हमेशा संयम का स्वर, संवाद का पक्षधर और अंतरराष्ट्रीय कानून का हिमायती रहेगा।”
विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता अरिंदम बागची ने आज के दिन को देश के लिए एक महत्वपूर्ण दिन करार दिया। श्री बागची ने ट्वीट किया, “एक महत्वपूर्ण दिन। भारत ने अगस्त माह के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद की अध्यक्षता संभाली।” फ्रांस और रूस ने इस मौके पर भारत को बधाई दी है।
भारत में फ्रांस के राजदूत इमैनएल लेनिन ने कहा, “हर्ष की बात है कि भारत आज फ्रांस के स्थान पर यूएनएससी की अध्यक्षता ग्रहण कर रहा है। हम भारत के साथ समुद्री सुरक्षा, शांति स्थापना और आतंकवाद का मुकाबला करने जैसे रणनीतिक मुद्दों पर काम करने तथा कई मौजूदा संकटों का सामना करने के लिए एक नियम-आधारित, बहुपक्षीय प्रणाली को बनाए रखने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध हैं।”
रूस के राजदूत निकोले कुदाशेव ने कहा , “परिणामदायक और प्रभावी काम की उम्मीद है। ढेर सारी खुशियों और सफलता की कामना।”
इस बीच संयुक्त राष्ट्र में भारत के पूर्व स्थायी प्रतिनिधि सैयद अकबरुद्दीन ने हर्ष व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी संभवत: नौ अगस्त को परिषद की बैठक की अध्यक्षता कर सकते हैं।
उल्लेखनीय है कि यूएनएससी की अध्यक्षता सदस्य राज्यों के नामों के अंग्रेजी वर्णानुक्रम के अनुसार मासिक आधार पर होती है। एक जनवरी-2021 को दो साल के लिए यूएनएससी का सदस्य बने भारत को 31 दिसंबर-2022 को समाप्त होने वाले अपने कार्यकाल के दौरान दो बार अध्यक्ष पद मिलेगा।
