ताइवान रक्षा मंत्रालय के मुताबिक सोमवार सुबह तक 24 घंटे की अवधि में 103 चीनी लड़ाकू विमानों के द्वीप की तरफ उड़ान भरने का पता लगाया गया। हाल के वर्षों में चीन द्वारा ताइवान की तरफ भेजे जाने वाले लड़ाकू विमानों की यह सबसे बड़ी संख्या है। मंत्रालय के मुताबिक, ताइवान की तरफ उड़ान भरने वाले चीनी विमान पहले की तरह ताइवान पहुंचने से पहले वापस हो गए।
गौरतलब है कि ताइवान एक स्वशासित द्वीप है जिसपर चीन दावा करता है। चीन ने ताइवान के आसपास हवा और पानी में बड़े स्तर पर सैन्य अभ्यास किए हैं।
