देशभर में आज 77वां गणतंत्र दिवस मनाया जा रहा है। 26 जनवरी 1950 के दिन देश का संविधान लागू किया गया था और इसी के साथ भारत एक लोकतांत्रिक गणराज्य के रूप में स्थापित हुआ था।
1950 में संविधान के लागू होने से ही भारत में इस दिन को मनाने की एक प्रथा बनी। देश की राजधानी दिल्ली में हर साल राजपथ (अब कर्तव्यपथ) पर परेड निकाली जाएगी। भारत के गणराज्य बनने से अब तक यह प्रथा हर साल देश के लोगों को गौरवान्वित करती है।

लिस्ट में जिन अतिथियों के नाम शामिल किए जाते हैं, उनकी उपलब्धता के बारे में भी पता लगाना रक्षा मंत्रालय का काम होता है।
रक्षा मंत्रालय के लिस्ट बनाने के बाद मुख्य अतिथि के चुनाव का अंतिम फैसला प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय में लिया जाता है। इसके लिए चुने गए देशों से संपर्क भी किया जाता है। इस प्रक्रिया को पूरा करने में काफी समय लगता है।
कैसे तय होता है कौन होगा मुख्य अतिथि?
