दिल्ली, मुंबई, चेन्नई, हैदराबाद और कोलकाता स्थित वीजा कार्यालयों में अब नियमित साक्षात्कार के लिए स्लॉट उपलब्ध नहीं हैं। आलम यह है कि जनवरी-फरवरी 2026 की नियुक्तियों को भी सीधे अप्रैल-मई 2027 तक के लिए टाल दिया गया है।
आव्रजन विशेषज्ञों की मानें तो फिलहाल स्थिति में कोई सुधार की उम्मीद नहीं है। विभाग की वेबसाइट पर कई जगहों पर, जिनमें कोलकाता और दिल्ली भी शामिल हैं, याचिका-आधारित (एच, एल, ओ, पी, क्यू) वीजा के लिए आवश्यक साक्षात्कार हेतु अगली उपलब्ध अपॉइंटमेंट के लिए प्रतीक्षा अवधि ‘उपलब्ध नहीं’ दिखाई दे रही है।
क्यों हो रही देरी?
यह सब ट्रंप प्रशासन के H1-B वीजा के नियमों में हुए बदलाव के कारण हो रहा है। 29 दिसंबर, 2025 को अमेरिकी नागरिकता और आव्रजन सेवा ने वित्तीय वर्ष 2027 के लिए नए नियम प्रकाशित किए थे। 85,000 वीजा की वार्षिक सीमा अपरिवर्तित बनी हुई है, जिसमें से 20,000 वीजा अमेरिकी स्नातकोत्तर डिग्री धारक आवेदकों के लिए आरक्षित हैं।
