खगड़िया स्थित श्यामलाल चंद्रशेखर मेडिकल कॉलेज में गुरुवार सुबह अचानक प्रवर्तन निदेशालय (ईडी) की 15 सदस्यीय टीम ने छापेमारी की। परिसर में तलाशी अभियान जारी रहते ही कॉलेज की सुरक्षा व्यवस्था कड़ी कर दी गई। कॉलेज प्रशासन को इस कार्रवाई की कोई पूर्व सूचना नहीं थी।
ईडी की टीम कॉलेज की विभिन्न जगहों पर जांच करती रही और सटीक दस्तावेजों व संभावित सबूतों की तलाश में जुटी रही। इस दौरान परिसर के मुख्य द्वार पर अनधिकृत प्रवेश पूरी तरह रोक दिया गया और आने–जाने वालों पर सख्ती बरती गई।
घटना के समय कॉलेज के निदेशक विवेकानंद परिसर में मौजूद नहीं थे, जबकि उनके भाई इंजीनियर धर्मेंद्र कुमार छापे के दौरान वहीं थे। ईडी अधिकारियों ने उनसे पूछताछ की। बाद में ई. धर्मेंद्र ने प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस कर बताया कि ईडी की रेड सुबह 10 बजे से रात 2 बजे तक चली। इस दौरान टीम जमीन के कागजात, हार्ड डिस्क, अटेंडेंस रजिस्टर और कॉलेज की मान्यता से जुड़े दस्तावेजों को अपने साथ ले गई।
उन्होंने प्रेस विज्ञप्ति जारी कर कहा कि मेडिकल कॉलेज पर ईडी की अचानक छापेमारी जिले में अबूझ पहेली बन गई है। कॉलेज ने एनएमसी (राष्ट्रीय चिकित्सा आयोग) की सख्त निरीक्षण प्रक्रियाओं का सफलतापूर्वक सामना किया है और अपना दर्जा मजबूत किया है। बावजूद इसके, छापेमारी का कारण स्पष्ट नहीं हो सका है।
उन्होंने बताया कि 28 जून 2024 के एनएमसी निरीक्षण में शुरुआती मान्यता नहीं मिलने पर मामला पटना उच्च न्यायालय और बाद में सर्वोच्च न्यायालय पहुँचा। अदालत के निर्देश पर कॉलेज को कई दौर के अचानक निरीक्षणों से गुजरना पड़ा, जिनमें कोई बड़ी कमी सामने नहीं आई।
जून 2025 में विवादों के बीच कॉलेज को 50 MBBS सीटों की मंजूरी मिली, जिसे बाद में सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने बढ़ाकर 100 सीटें कर दिया। धर्मेंद्र कुमार ने कहा कि यद्यपि सीबीआई ने कॉलेज के खिलाफ कोई आरोपपत्र दायर नहीं किया है और कॉलेज का नाम अभियुक्त सूची में शामिल नहीं है, फिर भी ईडी की छापेमारी ने अधिकारियों और स्थानीय लोगों के बीच कई सवाल खड़े कर दिए हैं।
संवाददाता सम्मेलन में ई. धर्मेंद्र ने इस कार्रवाई को “मनोबल तोड़ने की साजिश” बताया। वहीं उन्होंने कहा कि जनसहयोग से बनी यह मेडिकल संस्था खगड़िया की पहचान है और वह किसी भी तरह का दबाव स्वीकार नहीं करेंगे। इस मौके पर मीडिया प्रभारी अमरीष कुमार और रोगी कल्याण समिति के अध्यक्ष पीसी घोष भी मौजूद थे।
